Registration Brochure

We’re thrilled to let you know another great Adult Conference is being planned for you to be held at Northwest Christian Church in Columbus, OH from June 18-22, 2018.  Our theme is "Sing a New Song", with many references in Psalms.  Enclosed with this letter is our 2018 brochure/application. Our Vesper Speaker will be Rev. Dr. Tim Murtaugh, a retired Disciples minister.  Our daily Bible Lecturer will be Rev. Dr. Jerry Sumney, Professor of Biblical Studies at Lexington Theological Seminary.  Conferees may choose two classes from the six classes we are offering.  Our teachers and their classes are:

Bob Freisthler — "Sing a New Song”
A brief history of what and how we sing in corporate worship plus a look at new/popular worship music from the present.

Rev. Christopher Stark — “Resurrection and Restoration:  How our concepts of new life change the way we worship and fellowship.”
Our class will look at ancient and modern concepts relating to resurrection and the ways that they call us into new life and new song.”

Rev. Dr. Irvin Green – “Same Choir, Different Song”
In many of our congregations, leaders tend to be associated with particular areas of ministry. Little thought is given, by the leaders or their peers, as to what other roles these leaders might be suitable for. When the subject of new leadership is raised, the assumption is that new leadership will come from new members or from members who have not been involved in leadership. This workshop will work from the assumptions that leaders should be chosen is response to God’s calling and that God’s calling is ever changing.

Rev. Dr. Betty Green – TBA

Rev. Larry Garzony — “Exultation of Biblical Women”
Most churches set aside one Sunday in May each year to celebrate Mother’s Day. It is always a special day—both for mothers in attendance and those that gather to honor them. However, after all is said and done, it sometimes seems more could have been done to show our appreciation—not only to our mothers, but to all women. And, quite frankly, women have not always received their due—women weren’t even allowed to vote in the USA until passage of the 19th Amendment April 18, 1920. Seems women of the Bible have also been short-changed—so this series seeks to honor them in a special way.

Rev. Dr. John (Tim) Savage – “Understanding Life’s Polarities by the Decade”
This course will explore how to maintain the polarities that keep you emotionally and spiritually health.  It will explore how to plan to take each decade of your life and maximize it for the nest.

The Registration fee for this excellent week of learning, worship, fun, fellowship, and relaxation is only $200 (not including lodging). We also have part-time registration for any number of days, and the cost is as follows:

Daily Fee with 2 meals (Lunch & Dinner) -$50 per day

Many churches consider the experience so valuable they pay part of the registration for their members. Where there is need, scholarships for the registration fee and 25% of the hotel fee are also available through Adult Conference and are handled confidentially.  Please ask your church if they have scholarships available or have your minister contact Bob Thompson for confidential assistance with a scholarship. Adult Conference is full of endless possibilities where faith is deepened and broadened, ministry leaders are born and nurtured, and fellowship within the wider Church is strengthened. Adult Conference is an inclusive, welcoming place, where conferees are free to explore issues openly, honestly, and without judgment. Through Adult Conference, conferees may find that God is calling them to explore horizons they had never considered or even dreamed of before. We hope that many will be able to experience the far-reaching impact that Adult Conference has in the lives of individuals.
