We’re looking forward to a very exciting Adult Conference this year to be held at Northwest Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio from June 17-21, 2019.  Rev. Alan Dicken, Disciples Minister, is our Vesper Speaker. Rev. Dr. Ron Allen, Professor Emeritus at Christian Theological Seminary, is our daily Bible Lecturer.  Conferees may choose two of the five classes we are offering.  NOTE: The classes have changed since the original information was sent out. The updated teachers and their classes are:

  • Rev. Harry Bolen — “Finding My Neighbors”
Our class is a search within ourselves to see how we are neighbors to the world.

  • Rev. Deb Bolen — “Journeying with Samaritans”
By means of guided meditation and discussion, our class will explore how we encounter the “Samaritans” in our world.

  • Rev. Dr. John (Tim) Savage – “Living with Life’s Polarities”
This class will explore the nature of everyday Polaric experiences. Some of the polarities discussed will be:  Life and death, joy and despair, help and helplessness, emotional closeness and emotional distance, faith and doubt, confidence and worry, and many others brought up by the group.  The issue is; How do you live between the poles?

  • Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan, Jr. – “What Black Churches Can Teach White Churches”
Participants will learn about the formation of the Historic Black Church, its freedom and justice ministries that shaped the nation, and how its spirituality can help white churches to become more faithful, impactful, and influential in their communities.

  • Rev. Debbie Saxe – “God & Thrones”
"Throughout history we have been drawn to epic tales, whether violent sagas or quests of valor. Perhaps it is the idea of connecting to something larger than ourselves. Join in as we look through the lens of pop culture and current society to connect back to our own epic roots in the battle over the throne of Israel. Kings, generals, and prophets will guide our examination as each has a role to play in the shifting tides of power and politics."

In addition to the classes, there will also be a forum:

  • Rev. Kris Eggert – “God Before Guns”
On any given day, 109 Americans will die by a gun.  It is estimated that the total number of guns may outnumber our population.  Nearly half of our population knows someone who has been killed by a gun.  Rev. Kristine Eggert, Co-Founder of God Before Guns, has made it her life's work in retirement to lead conversations about gun violence among people of faith.  Hers is a message for gun owners, as well as non-gun owners.   We'll explore together how people of faith can work to reduce the number of deaths and injuries from gun violence.

"God Before Guns is a multi-faith coalition of individuals and faith communities working to reduce gun violence."

The Registration fee for this excellent week of learning, worship, fun, fellowship, and relaxation is only $225 (not including lodging). We also have part-time registration for any number of days, and the cost is as follows:

Adult Conference is full of endless possibilities where faith is deepened and broadened, ministry leaders are born and nurtured, and fellowship within the wider Church is strengthened. Adult Conference is an inclusive, welcoming place, where conferees are free to explore issues openly, honestly, and without judgment. Through Adult Conference, conferees may find that God is calling them to explore horizons they had never considered or even dreamed of before. We hope that many will be able to experience the far-reaching impact that Adult Conference has in the lives of individuals.
