Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with groanings too deep for words. And God, who searches hearts, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

The phone had rung the morning before and we had grabbed a few things and hit the road thinking the situation was minor and we would be home in a few days. By the time we got there the situation was critical and we were helpless. It was up to God and the power of prayer.
I awoke the next morning to the reality of the moment sinking into my consciousness and it was hard to breathe. I did what I could to take care of my loved ones and in my helplessness went to the bathroom with a tiny brush, a bottle of cleaner and a desperate prayer. I cleaned the grout on the floor and reached for the words of prayer that had no words. This passage was my truth. The Spirit was interceding where I had no words. I wept. I breathed. I knew God’s Presence. My phone pinged a notification. It was a friend praying for me. I knew I wasn’t alone. God’s love was holding us.
In our darkest moments God holds us. The Spirit intervenes. We are never alone. Whatever the darkness you may encounter, know that God is present and hears you even when the words are lost.
