After a thorough search process and interviews guided by the Christian Church in Ohio Personnel Committee, and following unanimous votes of the Executive Committee and Regional Church Council, David Stonebraker-Martinez was called to be our next settled Camp Christian Facilities Manager. Dave has been serving as the Interim Facilities Manager since last June and will begin full-time on March 1st.
Dave grew up in the First Christian Church of Niles and is an Eagle Scout and graduate of Hiram College. He has attended Camp Christian since childhood and in addition to being a camper and counselor, he was a state CYF President, an Advance Conference Officer, as well as having served on summer camp staff for several summers. It was while on staff that he was mentored by Al Channel, former Camp Christian Superintendent.
Professionally, Dave has served as the Program Coordinator and Congressional Advocacy Liaison of the InterReligious Task Force in Central America based in Cleveland. He was the Assistant Director of the Oberlin Annual Fund and then the Assistant Director of Annual Giving, both in the Office of Advancement of Oberlin College. Dave was a Search Consultant and Director of Recruitment for BeecherHill Search in Columbus. Most recently Dave was the Case Aide and Transportation Assistant for the Community Refugee and Immigrations Services of Columbus, Ohio (CRIS).
In his letter of interest, Dave stated, "I am particularly drawn to the opportunity to maintain and enhance Camp Christian's facilities as a welcoming and spiritually enriching space for its diverse community. Living onsite to proactively oversee Camp's infrastructure aligns well with my dedication to stewardship and responsive management.”
Dave and his wife, Keely Veatch, and their dog Jellybean, will be moving into the Camp Manager's house this spring. Please join us in wishing Dave all the best in this exciting new endeavor.
